Maxima: Home Again.

I guess the story starts in 2002, my second year in college. I purchased a 92 Maxima SE with the intention to rebuild the engine(My first) and to put a turbo on it. We did just that!! Well most of the way. I fully rebuilt the engine even putting in lower compression pistons so I could squeeze more boost out of it. But being an idiot teenager, I didnt do very well in my other classes and had to pay for college out of pocket for a while so I could no longer afford to finish the project.

The car ran and could be driven, but its 8.3:1 compression ratio made it SLOOOOOWWW. But I loved it none the less and did my best to finish the project just very very slowly. In fact we had a VERY rough draft of all the piping done, and even the turbo bolted up and the car drove. Just with 1lb of boost-ish, so I laid it in the garage where it sat for about a year.

A year later, I was a dumb teenager again and knocked up my girlfriend and had a little one on the way. So I decided to be a man and part with all my things I didnt need, including the maxima. =( I used all this money to buy a ring for my then girlfriend and ask her to marry me. She said yes!!

Happy ending right? No. Said girlfriend ended up cheating on me before we got married, but not before I parted with my cherished maxima. =(

Anyways here we are 9 years later. I now run my own shop, and have built multiple boosted cars. But, I have never gotten to complete the project that got me into cars in the first place. The Boosted 92 Maxima SE. I always wanted to but another VE and finish the project I started, so a few months ago I started looking on here. And I found a few that were very close to what I wanted. I even made a post on fb asking my friends to find an old maxima for me. And I never found one that fit.

Until the other day, I was driving on the backside of an old lake a few miles south of my shop when I saw her....... a 3rd Generation Maxima Se with black leather sitting in a side yard. At first I thought "It couldnt be my old one... could it?" Sure as **** it was!!! And I HAD TO HAVE IT!!! I knocked on the door the guy answered, and it was a guy that I had done some work for a while back. I told him my story, he said he would sell it and VOILA!!!

Its mine again. 9 Years later I have my car. In the 9 years it got 3 very very small dents, about 45k Miles, and another engine. (Probably cause the old one was so SLOWWWW) But I have it again.

I will be finishing the project for SURE. With a full shop at my disposal, and the skills I have gathered over the last 10ish years I get to finish my project. =)

The day I sold it.

Ill get a pic as it is when its light out....

Very nice man. What was your s/n back in the day? Curious if it'd ring a bell or not.

Glad to have you back, you seem gung-ho! Hope you stick around/finish it. Not many of us left here still actively modding/dumping money into these cars.

Never, ever, ever, ever put your happiness in the hands of someone else.

When you simply stop caring, it's amusing to analyze other people to get a feel of what their intentions are, opposed to assuming they aren't going to screw you over. Cars don't play games with you, it is what it is, if something isn't right, you fix it, it's entirely in your hands.

Can't say the same about people.

Is your business a auto repair shop or a performance shop?

Which is why my car is more of my chick then any girl (ok except for sex). My car doesn't give me no lip, break my stuff, get mad at me or expect me to get rid of my things for it. Thats why when females **** me off they can't understand why I go outside and do some overdue maintenance to one of my cars. It therapeutic for me and helps me drown them out. Once they come out with that crap and interrupt my lil world I send them right back inside.

Actually it's both. Out where we are there isn't many performance shops. So we picked up some parts and do some builds for the local enthusiasts.

See now for my friends that have shops I throw this idea out to them and they act like they don't understand. "Yes you are a performance specialist, but you don't have people spending money on that all day everyday. Do regular maintenance as to have a steady day to day income."

Btw I'm down to see your build. Even though my build has been as if it were on pms, I love my VE. Always excited to not only see another pop up on here but to really modify... well lets say there aren't may of us left. Gl!

I'm working at a dream spot right now(Lexus Dealership) but my long term dream is to run/own a custom performance shop like yours. You have to do regular repair/maintenance if you want to survive and obviously posses a love of automobiles. For some people it's just a job...for people like me it's a way of life!!

Same here. I love working on cars and also graphic design. Went to school for both and am currently working at BMW and freelance graphic design.

maximo018: i am beginning to like the new diesel engines that BMW is releasing now.
