Does Automatic Tranny Have An Exterior Filter

91 SE

It appears that the 91 does not have an exterior filter, but the 92 does. Is this correct?

I'm about 98% sure that it does not. The transmission (model RE4F02A) is the same exact one for 89 to 94. They could always do a modification, but I don't think they did.

All automatic transmission filters on the Maximas are internal. Problem for the models with the VG engines (RE4F02A transmissions) requires splitting the entire transmission to see it. The ones with the VE eingines (RE4F04V) can be easily get to by removing the trans fluid pan.
