lemme guess, you are hearing a clacking noise so you want to replace the timing chain...

no noise, front main seal is leaking. Just thinking preventative maintenance. I dont have VTC problems. Ive read some people say they just change the tensioners and guides but I dont want to half-*** anything

please dont talk to me like some little kid that never turned a wrench before, I just want to know if anyone has used these kits from ebay as somethings on ebay are just cheap generic **** and somethings arent

easy now. it's not common for someone with "newbie just registered" status to know what a VE is, let alone about the VTC clack issues.... so it was fair to assume that's what you were aiming to fix by replacing the timing chain stuff since 99.9% of VE-timing-system-related issues are VTC clack.

honestly I didnt know that much till I read the stickies, I normally just fix whatevers broken and do maintenance but since I need to change the front main seal, might as well change the timing chain but since I found this kit. I just wanted to know if anyone has used this ebay kit, since ebay isnt known to always supply quality parts I was wondering if anyone has used that kit

The front main seal can be replaced in about 45 minutes, remove the belts, then remove the crank pulley, then peel the old seal out with a seal pick..Put new seal in..replace all the crap you took off..You DO NOT have to remove any of the timing chain covers to replace the seal...

The timing chain, will be at best a 6-8 hour job, but likely more...The timing chain on these cars are designed to last the lifetime of the engine, they do not require to be replaced..

The timing chains are really burly. There are three of them and they are definitely designed to outlive everything else in that engine bay.

If you had thoughts of replacing them, you might as well take the time and effort to completely rebuild the engine.

I don't think I can recall anyone -- ever -- on this site having the timing chain break or stretch. The worst case scenarios are usually going to be VTC coming apart or throwing a rod.
