1993 Maxima Window Problem
I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima SE and I have a problem with the passenger window. When I shut the car down and lock the car, after a few seconds the front passenger window rolls itself down. I think it might have something to do with the Security System but wanted to know if anyone had seen this before so I could quickly resolve this. Its cold and snowy so its not a good situation.

Some security issue lol. Thats more like an invitation. Kind of stumped on that one. If im not mistaken being a 93 se it doesn't have the keypad on the se that year does it? If it did i'd say either that or the power window module. If it was the security system causing it you could try pulling that fuse and see what happens.

Thanks, I'll give the Security fuse a try. I tried leaving the doors unlocked and it didn't help. The window came down by itself again.
You are correct this 1993 Maxima SE does not have the key pad. Its an odd problem that just started. I hate it. The car is outside right now in winter with the damn window down and the doors unlocked. How nice id that. Luckily, its not forecasted to snow tonight but man I have to get this fixed soon.

Can't blame you. Bad time of year for a problem like that. Worst case you could also pull the harness from the window regulator being you probably dont need to roll it down in this weather. Atleast until you can get a warm place or better weather to work and further investigate the issue. Hopefully someone who's had or seen this issue will chime in. In the meantime id just pull the door panel and unplug the window regulator while you have the window up before shutting the car off.

That was my thought too but he replied in the 2nd post that he does have the se without the keypad. I suggested he unplug the regulator while the windows up until he can get some more input.

The car is for sure a 1993 Nissan Maxima SE not a GXE
CMax03: can you explain further. Where do I find this control box and what does it look like. Is it a possible loose solder joint as is the case with most Maxima electrical fixes?

The driver's master control console...Swap it with another good junkyard or friends unit to see if it's in the control console, since it is the master to all the door windows and door locks.

Can't seem to zoom in much on this diagram. Did you unplug the regulator to stop the window from going down?

I unplugged the Anti-theft relay under the hood in the relay box near the battery. It was the second relay in. It kept the window from going down on its own so I think this alone has narrowed the problem to the Anti-Theft system. I am wondering if the problem is a bad connection in the Anti-theft module under the dash.

He's talking about the master window switch. Replace that, if it still happens, replace the window switch of the affected door. Even if had something to do with signals from the anti theft, door lock timer, or anything else the plays a part in the circuit, it would be the master window switch that is the main culprit. The signals to and fro from those units are minimal and have nothing to do with windows rolling down. There is nothing that could go wrong with any of them that would cause the windows to roll down while using a healthy set of window switches. Aside from the keyless entry control unit on a GXE, which does have low level control over the windows rolling down.

Hectic, thanks for clarifying and I now understand what CMAX03 was describing.
The relay I removed was from the small relay box near the battery and was the second relay in from the left (Brown Color). The relay was labeled "Theft Warning System" Removing this fixed the problem. I understand what you are saying about the Master window switch and the switch on the affected door but the problem is somehow related to the Anti-Theft System.
Here is the odd part and why I narrowed the search to the Anti-Theft system. The windows and switches worked fine in any other normal use situation. They work correctly. But when you shut off the car and shut the doors (Locked or Un-locked) it seemed to be a timed action. It was about 30 seconds or so maybe a little longer after shutting the doors that the window would roll itself down. When it rolls down its perfectly smooth and of normal speed like someone is hitting the window down button. It rolls down all the way and is not jerky or partial like a bad connection.
There must be a signal of some type or a check signal current, that is sent to the windows once the system is armed. I can't explain why that window comes down on its own after the Security System arms.
I will try to locate some switches (Master Window and the Front Right) so see if I can fix the problem but we dont have any U-Pick type places any where near here. The junk yards have all gone away.
Anyone have an idea what could be going on here?

Have you tried replacing that relay? Check the classifieds. There are a few 3rd gen partouts in there. I have some switches and relays but im sure with the shipping cost from Canada it may not be worth your while if you can find them locally.
