Help! 93 maxima trans problem!!

Hey guys, I have 93 maxima that is having a weird trans prob or could maybe be a sensor.. Idk but it'll go in 1st, 2nd and then RPMs go up but I can feel that it's still grabbing because I can let off then back on and it still has a little grab which I'm guess that's 3rd.. Can anyone please help me on this
Thanks!

is it a GXE? GXE auto trans are notorious for failing early because of how weak they are. for starters check your fluid level

If its a GXE automatic, It may be on the way out, id start looking for a spare if I were you if the fluid level is fine and there are no leaks. You may be on borrowed time.

the gxe has the single ohc engine, 125mph speedometer, usually chrome body, door mouldings. VS the 93 SE has the more powerful DOHC engine, 145mph speedometer, white face cluster, sawblade rims, black body side molding, weatherstriping, usually tranny lasts longer than the gxe to my knowledge.

Ah yeah it's a sohc and the 125 mph :/ but it's the edition with Bose sound system sunroof leather electric seats and has the black side moldings, idk if that's a better edition that would maybe have a better tranny or they just came like that

Sawblade rims is an SE Trim thing.
SOHC SEs are only between 89-91.

Your trans. Is an RE4F02A. Could also be shift solonoids or just the valve body. Before you jump to conclusions check with a good tranny shop thats not going to take you for a ride and maybe you can still get some more years outta your gears lol. Hows the fluid? When was the last time it was changed? Is it a brownish colour or a pinkish to red colour? You could also do a fluid change to see if that helps. It's just a simple drain and fill with no pan to drop or filter to change. If you decide to change the fluid drive it for a few weeks then repeat the drain and fill process as there will still be dirty fluid in the torque converter. DO NOT do a flush just a couple drain and fills will help clean it up. Also adding an external cooler can help a great deal too. It may not help so much now unless your trans. is still in good working order but if your tranny does need some work or you get it rebuilt or swapped then add an external cooler for what theyre worth to help with preventative maintenance but in the meantime take it to a good tranny shop get their opinion and change the fluid.

get it checked out by a tranny shop, its just that the GXE trans is common to fail because its made for 4 cylinder engines and with the higher torque of VG30 the trans fails around 150,000km-200,000km usually. i got 430,000km out of my GXE before the forward clutches started slipping a bit so who knows

Right, I think my 93 gxe started to slip between 1st and 2nd gear, then fluid started to get darker, gave me about 3 or 4 months notice before it finially flew while I was on the Interstate, had about 225K miles. Found a cheap one for $300 though

What do you mean slip between 1st and 2nd? I'm having some acceleration/shifting problems with my car and i haven't figured out why yet.

Check your fluid level and change the fluid if it's a brownish colour. See if that helps then check back.
