I'm leaking... help me

I'm hoping someone else has a max as old as mine and/or has encountered this problem. Every time it rains (I live in the Seattle area... big problem here) I get an almost constant drip on the edge of the front passenger seat. Also, on the driver's side, it leaks on my left thigh. If I have to drive for any length of time, it looks like my "business" was pointed at my left leg, and let loose (no "Depends" jokes please - besides Depends only help from the inside out, not the outside in). I've tried to carefully caulk around the windshield with clear silicone. I've even tried caulking between the door weather stripping and the body. Nothing seems to help.

I would suggest replacing the weatherstripping around your door frame. it's not cheap (around $50 I think), but it's definitely worth it to save the humiliation of looking like you can't hold your water.

but there's 2 or 3 seals on the top of the door.. look to see if one or more of them are ripped or completely worn out.

also, do you get a lot of wind noise when you drive on the highway?
could possibly be that the door frame is bent slightly and just not sealing when you shut the door.

those are a few things to check. hope it helps.

On the passenger side, it drips right about where the top of the windshield meets the front edge of the headliner. The drops hit the front edge of the front passenger seat. I can't tell if the water is getting past the seal around the winshield or if it is getting around the weather seal from the door.

Thanks for the suggestions... I 'll probably have to just replace the seals... there isn't any wind noise and I know the door isn't tweaked.

Is is possible that the sunroof is causing it? Sometimes the drains in sunroofs can get clogged up... or disconnected.

I've had that problem with other cars but my Max doesn't have a sunroof.

I live in Seattle also. Has the windshield been replaced? Either an old seal or a faulty install might allow a leak but a drip is pretty bad!

As a matter of fact the windshield has been replaced and your post gave me an idea. I'm going to call my insurance co. and see if they cover a faulty install. Thanks for the suggestion.
