I'm looking to get an ECU upgrade for my 1992 GXE. The only other mod I've made to the engine is a K&N Air Filter.

What would be the best ECU upgrade option? Do they really make a difference? If so how much?

I know very little about this so any advice would be welcomed. Thanks!

It does make quite a bit of difference, but I would suggest getting other mods first, before you buy the new ECU..
(the ECU is programmed to compliment the engine mods you already have on the car. )

sooo, if you're planning on adding exhaust or doing any internal engine work, do that before you get the ECU.

As for brands, the JWT is pretty much the only good one out there. stillen's ECU is simply a JWT ecu with Stillen's name on it..

Thanks! I'm new to this. So how much will this ECU cost if all I've done is a filter charger. Would you know this?

the ECU itself is $550, which includes initial programming..

you can have it reprogrammed later when/if you get new mods for (I think) $100 a pop..

might as well get all your other mods done first, then buy the ECU! makes much more sense $$ wise!

go for a hi-pro y pipe next, intake and y are the best bang for the buck. ECU upgrades are better utilized as a later stage upgrade.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from JET ecus. I think Dinan makes one for our 3-gens but I have no idea how they compare to JWT(which is probably the best one out there)
