Enough of the Factory Bose probs --> Aftermarket Crutchfield, good idea?
Enough of the Factory Bose probs --> Aftermarket Crutchfield, good idea?
I want to change out the head unit in my Max and have done enough reading to know that you have to change out the whole system (thanks Bose
). Sometimes the radio power will be on but no signal comes through until after some clicking on the front driver's side panel is heard, then the sound/signal kicks in. Very random, don't think it's the relay (if there is one).
So....
(1) Will an aftermarket setup (headunit and speakers, no subs) fix this problem since it'll bypass the speaker amps?
(2) Is Crutchfield the way to go for a good package deal?
Thanks.

Yes that will bypass the entire problem, but may not be necessary....
Crutchfield= good and bad, you can't beat their customer service, i've worked with them and know a ton of overly rich people who deal with them only, the bad thing is that there prices are "high" well not raelly, they're just normal
prices, we just never like to pay those normal general consumer prices. Yuo might find a reputable dealer in your area but even better there's a guy on here who works for tweeter, great guy does a lot sales on here. I'd plug my myself for parts bu we are currently out of commission right now
.....best bet....check out the guy that works for tweeter
And next time try the car audio forum

You can usually do pretty well on ebay. I got a set of Polk 4X6's and 6x9's for just under $100 shipped. Buyer beware though.
Also, I just got the latest Crutchfield Catalog and they are now carrying car accessories, including APC stuff. Of course it was all rice gear for Hondas but who knows, maybe they'll start carrying some performance mods down the road.

Thanks for the tips. I agree that Crutchfield has some market-value prices, but I like the fact that they'll include the adapter I need in there.
Ebay...I've checked, but am wary because it's all caveat emptor

good you should be wary of ebay, but the good thing is that their rating system works pretty well, when i buy which ain't to often i buy only from people who have good ratings, if you're buying from a guy who has 200 positive feedbacks it's usually a safe bet, and those people are pretty honest if u email em with questions

As long as you are smart you shouldn't get burned on Ebay. The two guys I bought my audio from had tons of pos. feedbacks. Stick with those kind of sellers and avoid cash/money order deals and you will be fine.
