intake help -- wrong kit?

last week i got this from eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ndexURL=0&rd=1

and i brought my car to a garage today to get it put in, and after telling me that i got the wrong kit for my car, he further explained that the end of hte pipe that has to fit on to the maf is simply too big or somthing, and theres no way to adjust it to make it work. whats the deal? did i realy get a thing not compatible w/ my car? the eBay description says the guy had it on his car and everything, i hope i didn't get taken here... any info would help..im going after work to the garage and the guy is gonna actually show me what the problem is, so ill post a more detailed thing later if i think it'll help anyone help me. thanks

cars

about cars: cars are fun to drive, and work on. It would help if you knew something about your car. installing a CAI is not the hardest job ever but it does help to know something about it.

ok that CAI IS for your car.. it will fit.. you just need a MAF addapter.. you should have gotten one with the kit.. but its used and.. sh*t happends, try and get your hands one, and the CAI will install perfect

alright man, thanks for the help. ill get one of those adapters asap.

by the time i got to the garage the said that he modified it so it would fit. it doesn't connect to a hole near the front fender as intended, b/c the mechanic was unable to fit the non S-shaped pipe btwn the battery and the side of the car, even w/ the fuse box moved out of the way. sorry if thats kind of hard to understand, but its the best i could do. the guy told me it will work just the same, and according to him, even better because it doesnt have the chance of getting wet the way he set it up. i drove it tonight and it sounds real good, it just is kind of jerky when the engines shifts into each successive gear.

anyone have any ideas on what that might be, and also, if in fact my intake should be trouble free as the guy told me. i know i didnt have that great an explanation but thats really all he said to me. and chris cheezer, shut up.

peace

yeah, i am aware its no longer a "cold-air" intake technically speaking, but the mechanic did say that it will work just the same, and as i said before, no longer run the risk of sucking in water, as he said CAIs connecting to the fender tend to do, ****.

that guy is dumb

if he was good he would of found a way to make it work, because its still in the engine bay its still sucking in hot air and your factory air box would of sucked cooler air
all and all - i say you get the stuff you need and put it in the wheel well, and do it.. its not going to get wet.. unless you like driving in 2 feet of water,..

alright man, you're right, i admit it, but now; how can this thing fit in the described spot? should it be such a tight fit that maybe the mechanic thought it wouldn't fit when he really must've just been being lazy? i have to get my exhaust looked at today so im going to show him some pics of pr cai installs i've found on ppls websites and see if he can give it another shot, i would do it myself but i'm not that uh, technically inclined. thanks in advance for your help
