Creaking noise....shocks?

Hey guys, I've noticed this when it's cold out (like this morning...32 degrees here in Mass), whenever I go over a bump I hear a creaking noise...could this be a sign of bad shocks? struts? springs? Which one? All 3? heheh...

Thanks again

probably bushings. Do you have any aftermarket suspension parts or is it all OEM?

As far as I know it's all OEM..I haven't worked on the wheel sections of my car yet, other than a brake fix... but this creaking existed before the new brakes.

I've got the same thing going on my car, only for me it's the right front wheels. Sounded to me like struts, but that's just me. And I'm planning on replacing the struts and springs in a few months anyway.

Well, when my struts went bad I was bouncing left and right all over the road. It got worse when I put the ST springs on, and I new that I needed struts bad...

I'm a cheap bastard though, I don't want to fork out the cash to have a shop replace my struts...hehe

Looks like I might have to, now that I think about it

I've got the same year Maxima with he same creak sound, and I definately need front shocks. There's probably a connection there, but I haven't gone over the front suspension yet. It only happens when I go over large bumps like speed bumps (when the struts are really working).

Yeah, me too...On my way to work there's a hill with train tracks at the apex, and when i go over the tracks and back down the hill is when i hear the creaking. Same with speed bumps. I am curious as to know if it's the struts, shocks, springs, or a combo of each?

ther CV's can be remanufactured for 50-60 bucks, and if u have any skill at all you can do it yourself, it's pretty easy.

CV Joint

The CV joint is a part of the axle (there are actually two per side). The axle cannot be completely straight because the wheels will be moving up and down with the springs/struts. There are two CV joints that allow the wheels to move and still keep the axle spinning.

I had a boot replaced for $140 parts & labor, but my joint was still usable. I don't know how much a new axle costs.

My front end creeked over bumps too. It was the urethane bushings to my ST Anti-sway kit. It just got new shocks and still creeked. I un-bolted the brackets, pulled the bushings as far apart as they would go and re-lubed them with some gorilla-snot, bolted everything back up and no more creeking.
