Today when i was changing the oil in my Mom's maxima, i was starting to lower it down from the jack and i heard a creaking noise from the back wheel well on the drivers side. Once it was all the way down i sat down in the car and it made a loud creaking sound. Anyone know what this could be? I dont think its the strut because the car doesnt bounce and it is a stock 99 se-l.

 

Is it still creaking (i.e. going over bumps or when you push the car up and down)? One day I was rotating my wheels and suddenly my car had a creak. It ended up being the the parking brake cable (rubber on metal) right underneath the drivers side rear door. I sprayed some lithium grease and all is well

i just heard it tonite, didnt take it for a drive, but it didnt creak when i pushed it down

 

I don't know if this helps your situation at all, but maybe I can help someone else (Mishmosh :P). That picture shows the brake line that I sprayed with Lithium grease. I don't know what made it start squeaking, but it was really annoying.
