Your Dad means short block but anyhoo. The cheapest way would be to find a good used motor and swap it in. You could probably find a motor and pay someone to do the work for $800 or less.

Re: OK what should i do about my engine???

check here for used motors... www.car-part.com (some for $250 and up)

also check Nippon Motors, I've heard good things about them too! I have another link for spare motors too, I know it was $450 + $175 shipping, I'll look for it.....

V8 in a Max!???

That'll never happen buddy. First of all, that V8 wouldn't fit your tranny and even if it did it would blow it out. 2nd, that V8 won't fit in there unless it was horizontal and even if it did, you wouldn't get a tranny hooked up too it b/c you won't have any room.

Best thing I can tell ya, get rid of it and get another. If you want, I'll buy your clears off of you (if you have them). You're going to drop at least $2000 into this car to get it back on the road. Once you're back on the road, your tranny will blow out and then you got to get that done too.

Just my $0.02

Well never say never...it could be done but it would be a gutted full tube chassis car that was converted to rwd. Remember the tubbed v8 honda that was on ebay not too long ago. It wouldnt be reasonable and dont know why you would but it could be done.
