my experience with agx/eibach install attn RAVQ

I just did my agx/eibach combo today. I worked hard to be ready with all the right stuff I wanted to replace during the suspension redo. Here's the list off stuff I ordered.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=130295

this part did not fit on my strut. it is the upper rubber mount (54034-0W000 Seat-rubber,front $10.99) the existing upper rubber mount was much larger. I guess I had the wrong one???
also the isolation sleeve for the upper front spring was much longer than the one I ordered (54034-31U10 Seat-rubber,front $9.59)??? The upper front isolation sleeve was worn through on the upper front spring. I just turned it around and reused it.

to tell you the truth you can reuse the rubber mounts on the perch. I did the install with a friend who is a lexus technician and he said they never wear out. Also some of the isolation sleeves can be reused. I reused and sleeves in areas i thought would rub. It doesn't seem like a big deal to add more sleeves or spring wrap after you do an install in case you want to add more or change the wrap. Just take the tire off and slip some wrap around the coils without taking anything off the car.
the strut bearing did have some wear on it although my friend said I wasted my money. We noted that you can break/crack your strut bearing when you reassemble the strut . May be that's what happened some of you guys put your strut back together. When you crank down on the strut nut you need to look under the plate/perch to make sure the bearing is seated in place correctly . We placed it in flush, but after we tightened the nut down (things tend to twist) we noticed the strut bearing was dislogded a bit so we tapped or worked it back flush.

easy install relatively speaking. I had a commercial hoist, air impact and snap on brand tools . My friend was cool. Took two hours.

This is a REALLY easy suspension to lower. There are basically 4-5 bolt you loosen, removed the brake line, and voila. The strut's out. We used a really good spring compressor that is floor mounted. Just give the thing a couple turns with your hands and the spring is backed off. I set the agx to 2 in front and 4 in back. The car is lower than i thought. it's a nice decent noticeable lower. My accord had eibach's and it never really looked lowered to me. my only complaint is i wish the rear end was higher so i could get the "raked" look. rear end slightly higher than the front. i'll try to post a before and after pic.

The ride is good, definitely feels more sporty...i guess my wife will be the test to see if the ride is comfortable. i might just need to go softer on the agx settings

I have that set up...

...AGX/Eibach...used everthing that was stock, except for 4 Red Shock boots that I ordered from Summit racing (fit like glove + Red in the wheel wells!)

I have had NO NOISES or problems...The install was 18K miles ago!

Just before the install I was totally PARANOID about this small part/that small part/search this/that...Finally I just decided that replaceing all that stuff was really just...reading too many horror stories on bad installs on the Org.

95maximase-
Glad to hear you got yours done. Doing mine this weekend and I too already have all the parts in. Oh well! Did you use the other parts you ordered or did you reuse those as well? Thanks for the heads up!

One other thing, I guess the Suspension thread needs to be updated. The part #'s sound like they are for 97+ since I have a 96 and I assume you have a 95; although I don't see how the actual parts would be different.

ive got 180,000+ miles baby !!!!!!! that's the only reason i thought about changing all the little rubber parts and stuff. in hind sight i would have not changed anything, but would be prepare to have some kind of spring wrap or sleeve in case your stock ones are worn. the only sleeves that wereworn on mine were the upper frony isolation sleeves good luck
