Raced an F150 Lightning

This was probably a stupid idea but practice makes perfect right?
anyways i was on a local highway when i pulled up to an SVT Lightning (a newer one) at about 50, we had a good straightaway so I turned off OD and punched it-for a minute there I thought I was pulling on him until he flew by me like i was standing still at 100!! Those things are really fast, fast as a Z28! 2001 Lightning 13.9 to 14.1 in the 1/4, and supposedly they handle like an M3! oh well at least I tried instead of asked!

Why would you turn off OD on a highway. You could use 4th gear on a highway. When OD is off you lock out 4th right?

I guess 3rd would have probably been a better option than 4th. If he was only doing 100 he probably did not want to engage overdrive at that point.

well for my car.....i only see a light when i turn overdrive "off". i also see a greater rate of acceleration past 40 when overdrive is "off". maybe its just me.....

ok, ok. they probably can't handle with an "M3", i misinterpreted a "friend's" advice about the truck. oh well, maybe nissan will come out with a fast frontier-besides the SC frontier.....

I think it's just you because OD on or off should have no faster acceleration at all, it only locks out 4th gear when off. Your RPM's jump a bit, but it isn't making a substantial difference in anything.

I thought lightnings were faster than 13.9-14.1

They are, I believe they run low-mid 13's stock, and low-mid 12's with mods.

just leave O/D alone
when you floor it, the car downshifts anyways so there's no difference in acceleration, only thing is locking out 4th will give a crappy top speed in 3rd.

Just leave OD on. OD on/off really makes no different at all.

Btw, nice try on the Lightning. At least you tried, instead of posting that if you can take a Lightning or not. On an automatic, even with a SC, I don't think you can take a Lightning.

Mike, Matt took a modded lightning before. It may be possible but on the highway I dont think you stand a chance once they boost!!!
