Tips on a Smoother Ride

I have a 1995 Maxima and the ride is really bumpy. The streets where I live are not that bad but, I feel every bump I go over. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make the ride smoother. Thnx

Maybe your shocks are toast?

How old is your car, how many miles, and do you have any modifications.

i would definitely recommend getting new shocks, aftermarket in fact (KYB AGX)...that should definitely stiffen up your ride and make sure u have enough air in your tires

KYB AGX should definetely stiffen up your ride, but he said he wanted it to be more smooth.

He probably just needs some new OEM shocks installed.

A few suggestions:

Try searching the user, njmaxseltd, and look for some of his posts on using intake manifold gasket material rather than the paper thin strut mount gasket.

Actually, I found it for you:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ghlight=gasket

Also, tire pressure plays a large role in ride quality as someone mentioned. Experiment with ranges from 30-35 and find the pressure best suited for you. Pump up the fronts 1-2 psi more than the rears.

would the warpspeed subframe connectors keep the cheap-o rattles out? maybe thatll give you a more solid ride

He want's a smoother ride.

Assuming you have the OEM suspension still in your car it may be time to replace your front struts and rear shocks. If you want that smooth new car ride back, go get yourself a set of Tokico Blue Performance Struts and Shocks. Don't go with AGX, there a bit firm and valved for performance applications. They are excellent struts but may be a bit harder then what your looking for.

The Tokico Blues work excellent with OEM springs. They absorb bumps very well and give you that new car ride back.

How much does the Tokico Blue Performance struts and shocks usually cost? Is it a do-it-yourself job? Also earlier in a thread I read where someone mentioned something about a rattle... I get a rattle sound everytime i go over a bump. Any ideas.

I would not go with the Tokico Blues. I had them on my stock suspension and didn't think they were that great. FYI, when I replace the suspension the driver front strut (Tokico blue) was noticeably softer than the passenger side. No wonder the car handled like crap. Anyway save the $$$ and go with KYB Gr-2.

Want a smooth ride >>

Stick with the stock springs, install KYB GR-2s and make sure you replace the strut bearings and the related hardware.

What?

So what is best for a smooth ride. And do you know this from experience or just basic knowledge of the product.
