anyone here raced a ford tarus sho?

i just was wondering the outcome of the race if anyone has raced an sho? Last night some kid i know pulled up to me in his sho, and tryed to race me. its a 94 5-speed stock sho and it seemed fast as ****. we didn't get a chance to race because their were lots of cars in front of us. i'm pretty sure this car would kill me. i plan to race him sometime just, want to know if i will be made a fool of.

Perhaps...

Hey Bizzy,

SHOs usually run mid to low 7s 0-60mph. I would strongly recommend you practice up driving because it will solely depend on the driver. I'd assume you would win granted you have a 5spd. If you're auto...get a few mods before. All I know is that you don't know until you race 'em. Good luck man.

if you are 5speed you shouldnt have a problem, but if you are auto, it will be a very close race. the early 90's sho's were the quickest, low 15 to high 14 times. but the year you are racing runs between 15.4-15.9. the new sho's are slow as h*ll tho.

good luck

I don't know, the ones with the yammaha engines are pretty quick, they had about ~350hp originaly but Ford tuned them down because they didn't want them to be faster than the 'stang. They are very responsive and easy to mod, so that original 350hp is fairly easy to reach. The only problem is finding one that is still in decent condition.

My friend has one (auto). The other day (coming home from church ) me and a guy with another max and the SHO had sorta a 3way race. nothin dangerous tho. The other max was a 98 unmodded auto. I got to off the line with him once and beat him quite easily. so id say go for it. btw his taurus was stock.

ok this thread is getting out of control with the BS...i am a proud maxima owner but i have owned two 2nd gen SHO's as well. auto vs. auto the SHO will win, 5speed vs 5speed it depends on the driver. However, the SHO will kill a max on the highway any day of the week. Even though it has a Taurus body, it has a mean engine. The SHO autos can hit 14's easily with a few bolt ons, maxima autos can't. even my SHO broke down alot (it had 130k+ on it), i still beat 5.0 stangs all the damn time in it.

the 1994 Taurus SHO was a 6 cylinder..

i had a 1989, the first year they made it. it was 5 spd.. that thing had a lot of torque, i had it a few years ago, so i don't remember the details of highway driving, but it had some *****, i remember that at least.. but go for it... just make sure he knows he has a YAMAHA motor it in if he beats you, so he knows it's JAPANESE!!!

I've raced about four SHO's...

and won all 4 times..but those were all SHOs in very poor condition, no mods and by the exterior they looked liked beater cars. All of the kills came after they sped by the pack like maniacs. I've always wanted to race a modded one. I have MODS, but still fear some SHO owner out there with the same enthsiast MOD Bug that we have.

Unless you have MODS, beware...my 4 kills were no walk in the park.

Earlier this year I gave away my 91 SHO 5-speed to a friend and bought a 99SE 5-speed Max. These cars are evenly matched (neither are modded). As mentioned previously, it will depend on the driver.
