Please help me identify unbearable wheel noise
I searched to death, but to no avail! When I drive slowly over small bumps, my left front wheel makes a horrible metal on metal clinking/clanking sound. You can only hear it with the window open. It doesn't happen over 40 mph. FOUR mechanics can't find the source, probably because it only happens on certain types of roads/pavement. I have Tokico/Eibachs, 17" Konigs, RSB, FSTB/RSTB. I just put on new hub rings and had an alignment. It's not the bolt in the center of the strut tower. Could it be the anti-rattle clips or lack there of? Can they be checked without removing the caliper? Help!

how do you know its not the nut on the center of the strut tower.
i replaced my struts and thought i had this nut tightened. i used an impact gun to do the job. i drove with noises when hitting bumps that i attributed to other suspension parts needing changing. at some point i came back to this nut and decided to torque it with the struts in place and the wheels on the ground. this may not be the proper technique but it turns out the nut was loose and when tightened the noise went away.
on another vehicle of mine i replaced my strut bearings and got rid of a "clunking jiggling" noise that came from the suspension.

Try spraying down your rubber suspension bushings with lithium grease. That's what I did to get rid of a metallic noise after I did my suspension. Don't forget the ball joints either. You can even spray the rubber sleeve on the spring (the part that contacts the strut base).

it could be a host of things. You might wanna check your rotors and see if they're glazed. Sometimes they'll have ridges that contact the brakes and make metal on metal sounds. Visually inspect your rotors and look to see if they are smooth or if they have grooves in them.

Sounds funny but...
I had some 18" SSR Integral GT-1's where the nuts that hold the valve stem on came off inside the wheel and made the same exact noise you are talking about. I ended up taking the wheel off and bouncing it/shakinf it to verify there was something loose inside the wheel.....
