I don't know what the hell this guy had done to his car.. I don't have many mods on my car but I have fooled around with those Bimmers before but never like this. He totally spanked me. Oh well need more mods.. He definitely had things done to it because I can't even tell you in words how bad he crushed me.. Looked stock though.

Are you sure it was a 323ci? I raced a modified 328ci coupe with exhaust and intake and 18 inch rollers. The car looked sweet... I had intake, exhaust, and 17 inch rollers... from a dead stop I was on his *** so close that if he let off the gas just one second I would of hit him. I was in his draft like white on rice but I dont think I could of passed him and he could not leave me... after about a 1/2 mile of this we both slowed down and gave each other the thumbs up salute... Wish I was forced inducted then...but that BMW is one sweet ride. What do you have, an auto or 5speed? I have a 95 SE 5speed. I'd like to find a 330 to race now that I am S/C.

It was definitely a 323.. I was following it for a little while before we started racing.. I do have an auto which is a real big problem ( it sucks ). He didn't have any visible mods but when he took off it sounded mean as hell.. Those cars are really sweet, I agree. Saving for my M5 " yeah good luck"

Next time your racing...shift the car into 2nd. This should be good till about 80mph.

M5..... dreaming...... WAKE UP TIM!!

I had the oppurtunity to ride in one, and all I have to say is "DAMN".

The 5 speed 323 manuel is pretty quick... but its all for fun man... you loose some and you win some. I ran a GMC Typhoon for fun and all I have to say is "DAMN". I ate his smoke..*cough-cough" I also raced a Jackson Supercharged Civic and that little bastard was fast as sheit. But its all for fun...

2nd gear will red line by 60 mph......i test drove an auto 330i a few months ago...it sucked. It was very slow....bmw says the 330i manual does 0-60 in like 6.4 or something, but that auto was definatly slow.... 8.0 downhill

Manual 330i does 1/4 mile in 14.8 seconds.

Intake/Y/Exhaust gets a Max into 14.8 as well.

Remember those motor trend drivers are crazy good!

Also, the CL Type-S runs a 15.0 so a mildly mod'd Max is faster

Thats pretty sad, my GF has a new 323 and its the slowest car I have ever driven. He must have re-badged it or something, but It definately couldn't have been a 323. I would be surprised. Everytime I push the gas, it takes forever to launch.

I can fix the automatic problem you are having too BTW, check out parts for sale.

any of those cars u just mentioned can be beaten with mods, the 330 is nice, but the power band on those cars arnt that for away from a max, once u step into the m its a whole new ballgame pure power baby. than u better have forced induction.

You're talking 2nd gear in the BMW or the Maxima? The maxima auto 2nd gear will top out at around 75-80.

Two things

#1. 95se auto, 2nd gear max at 73mph

#2. I have killed a new body style 323 before, w/ a stock '95max, he had a manual too - you could tell by the shifts.

my grandfather has a 2000 323i with the tiptronic(?!?) tranny. I have driven it a few times and here is my conclusion about it vs. the max.

1) the 323i is MUCH easier to launch than my 5 spd max.
2) the 323i feels slower than my 97 SE 5 speed, it just does not have the power to compete.
3) there is a cool tranny mode that I found -> you go into drive then push the shifter to the left (which is how you would enter manual mode) but you don't shift the car. This makes the car shift at every redline point and also down shift aggressivly. When you are doing this a special letter (I forget what) comes on to let you know. After driving this car I decided that I prefer my maxima because its more of a sleeper and has more power. I simply can't deny the fact that the BMW feels like a more solid car and has more cool toys to play with.

forgot to mention: I almost cried when I saw how much better the Xenon headlights were than in my maxima, they do not only light further away, the light look so much cleaner and clear. I WANT SOME
