Breather

Does any one know what a breather is. I have a 99 Nissan Maxima, i heard that it makes your engine sound better, well if you know what is is and where you put it please Instant message me on AIM at assyriantgracer

The breather vents pollutant gasses from the crankcase back into the intake. When people talk about adding a breather, they usually mean just attaching a small filter to the breather port instead of routing it to the intake.

It makes no difference in sound and makes no difference in power.

Yeah I have a breather on my VB, just because I have a CAI, it makes no noise/perfoamnce difference, kinda looks goo though tiny k&n filter heh cute. Plus if you put it on the breather ports from where the hoses goto the intake you can eliminate sucking water into ever part of your engine, would only get into the tb

if you put a breather in anywhere past your MAF then you will mess up the MAF readings.

The question is do you mess it up in a good or bad way? I have had one on for months now, and I notice no ill-effects, in fact car clocks better times 0-60MpH with the G-Tech (because launches improved). However I do know other members have had idling problems with them.

ok actaully ive been looking around about this...

my breather, makes a little whistle sound in low rpms, almost like a turbo spooling up...sounds good...also, my friend was showing me some things on integra forums about breathers, and they were saying its bad....lemme get you the link....does this apply for our cars as well ?

Interesting, I also want to know if this affects our cars too. Im going to take off my breather for now though.

no one with an idea? i think its not true for our cars, because A) lots of people have em (doesnt make it right, but i mean, anyways)...B) on the teg site it said the HONDA crank case, so im assuming it doesnt apply to our car.s..but if anyone has more than just assumptions, i wold like to hear it
