Lemon Law...
Lemon Law...
Ok, I have yet to go to these extremes, but does anyone know any of the specifications on the Lemon Law. I bought a 95 GXE and i'm in love with it, but as a college student I can be spending a lot of money repairing the thing. Exactly 8 days after I bought the thing the check engine light came on giving me code 0407 - Crankshaft Position Sensor.
Now, i'm probably freakin out over nothing, but someone mention the Lemon law to me yesterday and now I can't get that off my mind. I'm probably going to take the car to Courtesy Nissan here in Dallas and have them look at it. I called them yesterday and unfortunately the guy there didn't really make me feel any better. He claimed that he was surprised it was still running (
). I'm a little upset. So hopefully because of the fact that it is still running suggests that it's something small, but I hope i'm right.
Any info anyone can give me about fixing the problem and/or specifics on the Lemon Law I would be very appreciative.

that sucks! I hate when dealers sell cars that have been beaten.
Poor car! Poor you! I think every state has different specifications on the Lemon Law, but ... yes, looks like I'm right. Check this out: http://www.lemonlawamerica.com/

BlueBOB - It's just a sensor, not a big deal. It's an electronic device which will fail eventually just like a light bulb will burn out eventually.
Have it replaced and enjoy your car. You made a good purchase.

njmaxseltd, at first I had your optimism, but I guess I'm just over paranoid. Someone mentioned picking up a Hayes for my car and replacing it myself. Do you think it would be something I could do?
if this is the only problem on your car then I wouldn't worry. If your car has had several major problems since you bought it (within a relatively brief timeslot), then it is a lemon. Like my friend's Passat.
Lemon laws only deal with New cars within the lemon law period of 1-2 years after initial purchase (depending on state). Your car is not subject to Lemon laws since it is 7 years old. You may be able to go after the dealer for knowingly selling you a vehicle in need of repair and not disclosing what would otherwise not be obvious to a reasonable person. But if it was obvious or could have been revealed by your reviewing the car carefully, then youy are SOL since I am sure you bought it "AS IS, where is with not implied warrenty of fitness".
Dealer may fix if they want to keep a good name though. Good luck!
