Nitrous Bottle placement?
Nitrous Bottle placement?
I going to be installing my NX kit on my car and I just can't decide where to mount the bottle in the trunk. I just wanted to get some opinions on where the best place would be. I've got a JL stealthbox on the lefthand side so I can't mount it there, so what I want to know is should I mount it on the righthand side or in the middle close to the back of the seat so I could just drop the armrest to open and close the bottle. What do you guys think?
Wherever you place it, it's best to have the valve side facing toward the front of the car, that way when you are accelerating, the liquid nitrous has a tendancy to get pushed back toward the pickup tube, other than that, you can place it anywhere, but keep in mind, it is kind of heavy, so make sure you bolt it to something solid, and don't drill through any lines or canisters.... or you exhaust...

). Just put in on the right side in the rear, valve facing forward like mtrai adviced. The only thing is you will have to run the line across the engine bay to get to the solenoids, which will probably have to be mounted on the drivers side fender. Make sure you have enough feed line before you start.

Ok I use nitrogen gas for my paintball gun... is it the same as the n2o I use for my car? I know there are 2 kinds, a medical grade and public grade. If it is, I normally run 2,000+psi for my paintball gun... why would you only want 1100psi for the car.

Nitrogen gas and Nitrous Oxide are two different things...nitrogen gas is just nitrogen(N2 i believe) and Nitrous Oxide is Two parts nitrogen per oxygen...I don't think nitrogen would do anything when injected into cylinders other than cool the cylinder, but it could also lean out the mixture....so Nitrogen gas is different than N20....

Nitrogen is what they use for paint ball guns. Nitrogen will just take up space in the combustion chamber and you will probably run slower. I guess you can spray the nitrogen on intercooler if you have a turbo.

I'm not sure if its nitrogen or n20 in the gun tank. I don't remember.

BTW, we can't run 2000 psi out of our bottles, since the blow-off valve on the bottle is set somewhere in the 1400-1500 range (not 100% sure on those numbers though). The optimal range for N2O in a car is 900-1000psi. Some people pump more, but it usually messes up your original tuning (makes it leaner due to more nitrous coming in) and puts you on the ragged edge. I have also heard of other people leaving enough room for 1000+psi in their original tuning and run those pressures at the track only. I personally have done test runs at around 1100-1200psi and it's unbelievable the difference it makes.
