Squeeking noise from left front, any ideas?

I have had this intermitant squeeking coming from my left front wheel, and I can't figure out what it is. The squeeking seems like it only happens when I turn the wheel(more often when I make a right turn). I tried to search a few things. I thought it was my wheel bearing but it seems from what I have read that this is more of a humming noise. All I can think of is my rotor might be warped. I have crappy brake pads on the front(they make the same noise when I brake) they got very hot and fade very quickly under hard braking which I think might have caused a warped rotor, and my squeeky brake pads are rubbing against the rotor more than they should. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have aftermarket suspension? Sounds like a strut mount bearing that is on its way out but not completely gone yet. I get weird creaks and squeaks when mine are torn up a little.

No, my suspension is stock. Thanks for the idea, I am going to run a search on that.

When I did the search it seems like people are getting more of a clunking noise from the strut mount bearings than the high pitch squeel I am getting.

Go here and click on 'interesting fixes', then click on 'turning noise fix'.

http://www.motorvate.ca/

What happens, is that when the wheel is turned, the spring has to be free to rotate. For this to happen, there is a small bearing at the top of the strut. If the bearing freezes up and stops turning, the coil spring winds up, then turns all at once making a 'thunk' sound. It will usually happen at slow speed when the wheel is turned and you hit a small bump.

Good Luck!

Well, on second thought, what you are describing seems more like the brakes.

If you don't install new rotors or have yours turned when a brake job is done, or don't use silicone on the backs of the pads, the brakes can squeak just driving down the road. They will also do this regardless if they are very worn. The factory installs little 'squeakers' on the pads to warn when they are getting worn out. Go to autozone and get some new pads and $22 rotors.

Good Luck!
