please do a search on "UDP install" or "UDP question." There are literally about 300 threads about this topic.

The pulley adds about 8-10 hp, The stock pulley weighs about 8 or 9 pounds, the UR racing pully has the same dimensions but is much lighter. The computer will recalibrate the difference in about a week and you will notice a little more power at the wheels. They say it also increases the life of your accessories as well.

go for it. UDP's are one of the better bang for $$ in most nissan cars. I guess nissan's have heavy crank pulleys.

The stock pulley weighs about 5lbs. The UDP weighs about 1.5lbs. The ECU doesn't recalibrate because the only thing that really changed was the weight (ie less rotational weight). The ECU doesn't know the difference. The same thing goes for lighter wheels. You'll free up about 4-5fwhp/fwtq on a manual and drop ~.1 seconds and gain ~1mph in ET in the 1/4 mile on average (ie minimal gains).

It's not one of the better bang for the buck mods out there. $200+ for 4-5fwhp/fwtq isn't the best investment.

BTW, I have a Unorthodox UDP on my 96 and I've dynoed it and track tested it. This should be one of your last performance mods. Save your money for the VIM first.

sorry, i wasn't being max specific there. just nissan specific. my z pulley went from 12 lbs to 4 and got about a 15HP improvement. it had a harmonic balancer on it originally so that was probably most of the weight. must be the difference between VG and VQ motors. thanks for pointing that out Dave.

Damn, that is heavy for a pulley!!!! No doubt you freed up some good power. The VQ is internally balanced therefore the pulley isn't a damper. I guess that it why the stock VQ pulley is so much lighter. I remember reading a while back that the VQ is ~90lbs lighter than the VE/VG.

That is true. Our VQ has an aluminum alloy block, where as the VE/VG is something else, I forgot the exact metal used.....
