5sp Tranny Differential Bearing Problem
I've searched and searched about the differential bearing problem but couldn't find the specific answer to a question I had in mind, so if any knowledgeable person (ericdwong, hlh.., etc.) about this subject can respond, thanks for your input.
After draining regular GL4 gear oil out and putting in Redline MT90, I noticed some oil on the bottom of the transmission housing. Just to give you an idea of where this leak is, normally the drain plug is further towards the back of the car, and this leak is occuring on the bottom of the housing located more towards the front of the car.
I'm going to take it in to my shop and get it put on a lift to check the if there is any forward/back play on the cv input into the transmission. From the description, what are your guys' opinion?
Lastly, did Nissan ever recognize the shimming error and correct it in the 4th gens. Do 5th gens have this problem? I have a 98. What are the model years with problematic differential bearings?
