Car acceleration problems

This is kind of long. I am 95 5spd, SC, JWT ECU, and other things. This all began when I replaced my test pipe with the CAT to pass emissions. Upon putting on the CAT, the car ran horribly, the symptoms are:

1. Whenever you downshift or upshift into a gear the rpm shoots up and you can hardly go anywhere.

2. After it shoots up it always drops by 500-600 rpm.

3. The car is super slow and hardly has any acceleration. When any kind of acceleration is attempted in gear, the rpms shoots up and the car hardly goes anywhere.

4. All the hoses were checked, and yes, I know how to drive a 5spd.

I thought this could be the CAT or the 02 sensor I used from the CAT, so I took the CAT off and put the test pipe back in with the orginal 02 sensor. I get the exact same thing.

I have tried resetting the ECU. Now, the ECU (ever before swapping for the CAT) has always given me the code 10 05 (EGR solenoid), and it ran fine with it. Now, the ECU still gives the same code. I tried resetting it by turning screw method (which i've done successfully on my other max), but the ghost code is still there. Does that mean the ECU is not being reset? (P.S. it is being reset with disconnected battery as I write).

Could anyone tell me what's up?????????????????? Thanks.

:o)

1.) How the heck is it that you have a JW ECU AND an SC?!!!! That is a major no-no. They didn't write you a special SC program, did they?

2.) Why do you think the code is not valid? If the code keeps coming on, I suspect it's because your EGR solenoid (or related) is faulty. Resetting it will only make it go away once it is fixed. If the probelm still persists, the code will come right back on.

Sorry I can't help with your problem specifically, I just had those two questions. Good luck. I know how it is to have car headaches. My car has had bad starting problems for 3+ months.

There's probably a problem w/ the EGR system. Fyi, to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery; you'll need to leave it disconnected for 24 hours according to my FSM. As for going no where, is your clutch slipping? Is the clutch fluid okay?
