I have a friend that has his Audi, and yesterday we met at a red light, he lined up right next to me and started revving his engine. He yelled over to me and dared me to race him. I was like "let's do this".
When the light turns green, I was amazed how this guys car just pulled away from me. He had like 1 car length on me on first gear, but then my car hit second, then he hit second and I started pulling on him. When I got to around 80 - 90 mph, I was ahead of him by 2 car lengths and kept pulling farther. Next thing I noticed was I was at 125 mph and he was way behind. He was amazed how easy I pulled away from him after second, and so was I. Is this normal. He's a pretty good driver, but his car didn't have a chance after 2nd gear.

If i am not mistaken the A4 is not AWD. That is the platform of its big frother, the S6. I am not sure on the specs on the A4, but he learned a lot about a maxima, didn't he?

They can come in Quattro. The S6 is a wagon.

I think most A4 1.8T's are quattro, if not all. The only A4 ive seen that was not quattro (perhaps they opted not to spend the xtra cash) was the 2.8 V6 one.

Although over 95% of all A4's where sold with the AWD quattro option both the 1.8 and the 2.8 could be had as Frontrack2WD. And believe it or the 2wd cars are significantly quicker.

but if he was stock, you would have beaten him anyways. His car if it was only the 2WD version weighs about 3100-3200 pounds and only makes 180hp, if it was the 4WD Quattro version add another 200 pounds to that. Anyways a kill is a kill, but watch out, they can easily be modded with a turbo upgrade, the $3200 PES Tuning T-28 upgrade kit will take it to 280+ hp and that is good for a mid 13's in the qtr mile for a quattro car.

Yeah there pretty quick when modded, but when completely stock, they struggle with the 1.8T, similar to the Jetta 1.8T (their weighty), the new 3.0L A4 is much faster and sweeter looking...

Even with intake/exhaust and chip upgrade they are still in the low 15s. The AWD system helps a lot but the stock turbo is small and the car is heavy. I got a 5 speed to run 15.32 after 3 runs. This was launching the car at 5k+ RPMs with 80% clutch then dump. In other words, you have to abuse the car to get it to go fast from a stop. The fit and finish of those cars are great! And most of them are quattro. Watch out, they can get a turbo upgrade and make 300+ hp. Those iron block engines are very tough.

Yeah my friend has a stock 1.8 Quattro... its Quick off the line but doesnt fly. When we raced, I was almost positive I was gonna get my *** kicked... but I won... Its a nice car, real comfy on the inside. Im not all about speed and whatnot, comfort and class is what I go after.
