Help! Max Won't Start!!
My wife started our '99 Maxima, and it went dead when she put it in reverse (auto tras). It never started again. The starter is turning over the engine, but it won't even try to start.
It has almost 60K on it. I was going to take it to the dealership in the next week or two to have the 60K tuneup done. Now I guess I'll have to get it towed. I don't want to keep trying to crank it in case the timing belt has broken or something. Any help would be appreciated!

No timing belt, it's a chain and it doesn't really fail.
Most likely you have a sensor gone bad.
Check the ECU for codes, refer to the sticky post up top of this forum for easy instructions.
My guess would be a crank sensor (there are two)
Or a Camshaft sensor
Or your fuel pump quit.

Thanks!
I went back out and tried it again. It started after I held down the gas pedal. It's running fine now. We've had a lot of rain lately, and I'm guessing there must have been some water in the gas.
