Someone told me to look for a trans code on stamped on the trans and I could not find one. I just really want to make sure this is the tranny I paid for before I get it installed tomorrow.

tranny code should be on a metal plate inside the engine bay
i believe it is on the passenger side of the car. the plate will have a the vin # and the the tranny code. if the code ends in "A" you have an open diff. if you see a "V" you have a locking diff. you are looking for a

RS5F5OA=open
RS5F5OV=locking/vlsd

That does not mean the tranny has a vlsd differential. I found several transmissions at junkyards that had numbers ending in V that were open differential. Only the codes RS5F5OA or RS5F5OV found on the firewall indicate whether or not the differential is open or vlsd.

If you look into the holes where the axles go (without either axle installed), if you can see through, it's open diff, if you cannot see through, it's VLSD.

Can you see past the tube all the way and out the other side? If not, you have lsd, my friend.
