install FSTB

I read some where on this forum and now I can’t find it, that we need 35lb torque wrench to install FSTB.

What is 35lb torque wrench? Anyone has pictures? Is there a tool substitute?

How do you all install this?

i don't have a pic, but a torque wrench will secure your hex and tell you how much lb on there.

although people says 35lb for FSTB, i left it @ 60... because tat's how the stock settin was on my car specifically, and also i "feel" it's more firm.

goto Home Depot, Tools section, about $55 bucks, put FSTB on, then return it. Autozone also sells them.

just do it by hand. snug then 1/4 turn. 60lb ft is definitly too much. If you take too hard of a turn the bolts might snap off. I heard this happened to many org members before for overtightening the fstb bolts. anywhere from 25-40lb ft should be fine. snug + 1/4 turn is around 30 depending on what "snug" is to you.

Get or rent a torque wrench (0 to 150 ft/lbs) $25 to $55 to buy, useful else where. Get a good repair manual. Haynes, etc. find the proper torque settings for what you doing. These manuals will also show you how to read the specification markings on the bolt or nut.
Better to replace with the corrcect spec.

Too loose will strip out or fall out from vibration. Ever wonder what some rattles are? Too tight... Bang! If you are driving under extreme conditions, your front suspension just went under your rear tire.
