How can install a pda gps sys

well first of not all PDA's are compatible to be a GPS device. I know that the Palm Pilot m125 is able to act as a GPS. But you have to buy a GPS reciever which will cost you 202 bucks.

You can also run a Dyno with your Palm Pilot. ( another cool thing )

Another option is using the pocket pc's. They are basically windows based PDA's. I purchased my Audiovox Maestro for $250 from CompUSA. It has one compactflash slot, one smart media slot and support for an RS-232 connection (needs special cable).
There are many compact flash kits for pocket pc's. Check out this link for options: http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/...pc/default.asp

I think Ambicom sells a GPS CF card with antenna for $150, but it only has a 30 day trial for the GPS software. So read thoroughly when deciding. I noticed a $350 kit, that includes fully functional software, external antenna, battery charger and of course the GPS receiver.
I like the pocket pc platform because it is very compatible with my outlook 2003 in terms of synchronization. I can also play MP3's from the pocketpc into my car stereo (there is a headphone jack on the pocket pc). I can dictate voice notes, and take hand written notes.
Some models of pocket pc's have an RS-232 serial port. Which can be used for many purposes (including some GPS kits).
