OK, I am sure everyone has seen the sticker that the one guy has on his back window..... the infiniti symbol sideways as pacman...SI...TypeR ? Well I got one of those stickers from him and put it on my '95 max se auto w/ JWT intake and FSTB - hoping I would never have to run with a type R. Now SI's, I burn those weekly and especially, I love the Civic EX's with the SI sticker under the EX, what are they thinking?

Anyways, 30 minutes ago, on my way to work from school, I see a yellow type r going down the other side of this 4 lane road I am on, so I did a quick u-turn and he was sitting at a redlight about 5 cars up from me in traffic. The light turns and he moves over a bit in the lane and I see his huge exhaust - bummer I was thinking. He goes weaving through traffic, and so did I. BTW, it is a yellow typer, so I knew it was genuine, plus the spoiler, etc etc - Totally clear windows though, so I saw the driver too. I finally pulled behind him and he got on the interstate. How he knew I wanted to screw with him, I don't know, but on the ramp he pulls 90mph and then we get stuck behind a semitruck on the interstate. I somehow got in the other lane and switched back over right infront of him, and we were blocked in, he couldnt pass me, I couldnt go fast (b/c of semis all around) - we both took the next exit and I took it fast, but come time to merge I slowed to about 35 and then got in the lane, he pulled up next to me going 35, looks at me, while Im looking at him, and you hear his exhaust roar to life. That was it, I had my OverDrive turned off, so that was all good I stomped on it, and we're instantly at 80mph, b/c my car shifted to third. He was pulled about 1 car ahead. We started hitting traffic, and I topped out on the run around 5500 rpm in 3rd on my automatic, never looked at the speed though b/c of traffic, can anyone tell me how fast that is? He was about 2 cars ahead of me, and he got over, and a semi almost hit both him and I, I had to hit it again, to cut some dude off before I missed the next exit (we kind of went in a circle, I was back to where I needed to be before I did the uturn to chase him) - so anyways, I was roadkilled, and I wanted to laugh b/c I had that sticker on my car that he had to stare at when I was in front of him, it was fun, got my adrenaline going, and now i realize I need a SC and ypipe and nitros.

Auto boys like me with not too many mods, don't screw with type r's -

Auto maximas without a lot of mods can't hang with the ITR. That thing just keeps hauling. Every shift lands it inside the meaty part of its powerband. I would say you could hang till around 80.. 75 maybe..

just curious...

has anyone beaten typeR's before? What mods do you have, and did they have any that you knew of? This one, like I said, I know it had a 4" exhaust something....

I've been beaten by an ITR before.. =) hehe. But that didn't really last very long. Raced my friend across the street.. I had my exgf in the car and groceries too.. He got a whole car on me before we reached the other side.. I started to gain.. But the road was closing up so I had to let him pass.. I've also messed around with him on the highway. They don't really run away from you very fast.. But you're not gonna catch up either.. Especially if there are some turns..

You have a 5-speed and happy juice.. =P Happy juice is considered a major mod. (Which I shall have soon!!! )

a gs-r is hard enough, asking for a type r is pushing it, they dont pay those extra 5-10grand for nothing. The thing is if its a gs-r or type r it's always a manual. On a straightaway a maxima (5th gen) can beat (barly) either if it has some basic mods, a 4th gen will need a little more help, but any ramps or corners and their gone. The integra is notorious for incredible handling.

I was going to get a gs-r, but the dash is the uglist of any car I've ever seen. I mean you might think that's a dumb reason, but it's like seeing a really attractive girl and then she smiles and she's missing teeth; there are some things you just can't deal with.

Re: .

The ITR is only about 3 grand more than the GS-R.. My friend got his for about 23k out the door. The GS-R handles pretty well. The stock tires are junk though. So they don't handle all *that* well. But the ITR. Amazing handling for a FWD car. The Potenza RE010 tires have monster grip. So from the factory, it has an advantage against most other cars on the street.

One time I was with my friend in his ITR. We were next to a current gen accord sedan. He was 5-speed. So we knew he was a 4 banger. He had exaust and who knows what else. He started reving and rocking back and forth at the light. I guess he didn't believe it was an ITR. Light changed, my friend grinned and launched.. Lots of wheel hop but we were gone. We must have put 5 cars on him before the next light. Pathetic. We had to turn at the night light.. So my friend whipped a 90 degree turn at over 40mph.. I kid you not. The tail wagged a bit and we regained control. The accord followed.. We ended up at the bowling alley we were going to and the accord followed us in. We were like.. Ah oh!! Trouble? He parked.. and we were going to wait till he left to make sure he didn't want to key the car or something. So as he passed by. He was like. Thats a real type-r? We were like yeah. Funny. Don't play with these things on tight roads.. hehe

It just suck when you have a real ITR with all those posers out there. I know a guy who has a real '98 ITR, he just absolutely hate posers. However, you can't blame people for mistaken a real ITR for a fake. Only the knowledgeables can tell the difference. The guy that I know that has the real ITR told me that he make it his job to go out, and teach all the wannabes a lesson. As far as a Maxima taking out a ITR, I doubt it, unless you have some very good mods. Btw, I just recently found out the guy I know with the ITR just got a supercharger installed.

One realllly easy way to tell a real from a fake in Louisville...

Since we only have like 2 or 3 of them here that I know of, and all of them are the bright yellow color, a color you can only get on a ITR - yes, you could paint a regular one, but if you're going to spend 2-3k on the paint and then performance stuff, why not just buy the ITR to begin with??? So anyways, its realll easy here, you see bright yellow Integra, you know what your up against

Only 3 grand more, I thought they were more than that. When I was at an acura dealership they rose the price of a type r $5,000 because it was in demand, next time I was there it was gone so.... It wasn't championship white or anything like that either, just black, maybe it was some special edition or something or owned by someone speical or something like that.

About racing, just about any car can beat any car, from the races I've been in I noticed the guts (or stuipdity) and skill (very small part) of the driver ultimatly decides who will win. There is a very thin like between '*****' and stupidity, actually there really isn't a line the words can be interchanged with each other. Professionals mess up every day and they die; dont mean to be the mother but just dont kill someone or yourself just so you can say that you beat x car.

Re: just curious...

i've take a Type R with just CAI, ypipe, rt cat, & muffler..

it's pretty close, but i wasn't that fair because we ran into traffic..

but i would think auto Max vs an ITR, the ITR would win.

My friend ran a 14.8 stock in his ITR. Either the turbo ITR you saw had some major traction problems. Or it wasn't turbo at all..

I nudged out a yellow Type R at the track by about .2 and 1mph or so. It was close, but I ended up a good 1.5 cars ahead by the end. I've got the race on video and you can hear the Honda boys cry out in frustration. My mods were a y-pipe, intake, and B-pipe.

BUT, I am not so stupid to say I could beat every NA Type R I come up against. Facts are facts and the Type R technically is a significantly quicker car than the a stock 4th gen (.4-.5 and 2mph) or a stock 5th gen (.2-.3 and 1mph). Remember that the ITR is much harder car to drive quickly.

how to tell a real type-r.....

They have no side moldings and they have 5 lug hubs. I hardly ever see a fake one that fools me. Most kids forget about the side moldings, therefore they dont take em off. I beat a kid at the track with a yellow type-r. He ran a 15.4 (crappy driver) to my 15.2 (first time ever drag racing) But i have seen bone stock ones get 14.7's even one kid busted a 14.4 with a gutted one (had front both front seats and carpet though) Funny thing is a lot of dumbasses have no idea how to drive em, they arent as forgiving as our torquey v6's.

They didnt have type-r's until the current generation of integras came out, and even then it started in the 97 lineup. At least in the united states.

Wrong...Very Wrong..

The interga GS-R came out in 1991.. It was Green, with Green rims and GS-R badge on the back. It was the first model to have leather.... It had 1.7 liter 174 HP. Noted as the highest asperated engine since NASCAR. I had the top of the line integra, my car was featured in ACURA advertising Documents all over NY. Before the stripe was painted. I was the 22 yr old kid who got suckered into EVERY fu*4ing option...plus with the miles i was driving i was in the dealership every three weeks for oil changes and upgrades...check you history...

Maby the Type-R but it is the same...

Right...Very Right..

I said TYPE-R not GS-R, they are very different. My friend has a 2nd gen GS-R so i know they exist. Besides the NSX it was the first honda in america with VTEC cause thats how they marketed it.

Drove one, didn't like it

My GF has a 98 LS. When I first drove it, I fell in love with the car. Never before had I driven a car with such handling and tight shifting (Hasn't been the same since I smacked it up a year ago doing 65- 80 around a near 90 degree bend. It didn't seem too fast after doing 125 on the Skuykill in Phily). Last april, I got my loaded 99 SE (automatic unfortunatly) and fell in love with the tourque of the V6, all though I missed the great handling and shifting of the Integra. I thought that I might test drive some cars to see where I would go next. I drove the celica, probably the coolest test drive I've ever had, but didn't like the car too much, (felt like a friggen tin can). I drove the Eclipse, and loved it, but waiting for the rumored SC and AWD version in a couple of years. Last, I drove the Type-R, and didn't like it either. Where it handled even better and was tighter shifting, it didn't have the pull of a v6 like the max. Maybe I just couldn't get the v-tect to kick in because the dealership guy was freaking out. Either way, I'll still take the Max over the Type R
