I got it goin at exactly 200 kph (!) on the Autobahn, but that's almost "flat out" with the 1995ccm engine.

I hope you're not too jealous

Cheers from Germany,

actually, i'm not too jealous, considering 200KmPH is about 125-130MPH.

and this is the pic from sleepin99's site :

were you and him in the same car at the same time, using the same camera in the same type of light?

I think if you have gone these high speeds you are just stupid. Why is there a need to go that fast? Your not only in danger of hurting yourself, but others as well, not to mention, if you get caught you will get your liscense taken away. I can honestly say I have driven my car into the triple digits, and I am not ashamed. If you want to go fast, take the car to the track, or somewhere where you can legally go that fast. STAY SAFE!

umm, even at a track you are not 100% safe. the absolute safest way is to not do it at all. That won't happen.

to fearthegecko...

if you look at the pics closely, you can see that they are 2 different cars. one is an SE max going 140 @ 5200 rpm. the other one, (mine) is pegged out with the rpms @ 5600. mine is a GXE with overlay white gauges. that's why the needles are red and not white. last thing, i have a digital odometer, he does not. i had 2 people in the car and are luggage which this was during are roadtrip to PA. later.

i couldn't see the odo. I noticed the difference in fuel gauges after i posted it. and plus, i think his pic is fake.

a fake you say....

do you mind in telling us how you reach that conclusion? as for the needle, yes you can not see the tip of it but you can see the 140 mph in both pics. then you can see how far away the needle is from the 140 mph mark. granted, it becomes a guessing game after that point. i have been above that marker many times so i do have an idea of how long it has been pegged for for me to claim those speeds. i you need proof, i may have a org member make a video for you to see if i make it to the KY meet in 2 weeks. later.

personally, i couldn't car less who's done 140, and who hasn't, so don't waste your time with the video. I do think it's suspicious that the pic is blurry, and you can't see all the details clearly, andthe fact that you're doing 140, yet are able to take a picture that close to the speedo. The one taken at the angle is more convincing, like a friend in the passenger seat took it. Oh well, if you did it, you did, don't matter to me.

160 MY A$$ !

NO FREAKIN WAY. Especially with your lack of mods.

I think I got you guys beat on the ticket thing. I got a $500 ticket + driving school($100) so essentially a $600 ticket. Let me know if anyone has gotten a higher one...
it was for 37 over by the way.

140+ is all thats possible in NA Maxima:

http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...lass=44&page=3

Your SPEEDO is messed up. Get it checked out. If its not messed up you prolly need to know that the speedo isn't exactly perfectly accurate on that part of the dial.
If you did do 160.......like everyone else said, CONGRATS! Cause you have the fastest NA Maxima in the world.

sleepin99's site

the pic was taken by me while i had my best friend race a WRX in PA. i took 3 or 4 pics as the speedo started to hit the triple digits. it all happened to quickly to take really good pics. later.

145-148mph w/o ypipe... with ypipe... i think 150mph is obtainable... but i don't think i'll be trying it anytime soon. one high speed run was enough for me... i think i'd rather see tomorrow instead.

My old car was a 96'maxima GXE 5spd which had a govener on it. Nissan put these on set to 118mph because the tires put on the cars couldn't handle the extra speed.
I am wondering do the 97- 99 models also have a speed limiter on them? Is there a way to by-pass that?
Yes their is a way to bypass the limiter. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=50617

I have only taken my '95 GXE 5spd. to 115-118mph, or whatever the limiter is set to. I have not yet tried this mod(removal of the limiter).
