Wheel bearings

My apologies for double threading but this is more specific.
I'm having an intermittent scraping issue in the front passenger
side wheel area. I think that it could be the bearing but I thought that would be a more constant sound. It gets alot worse when I turn.

Any help is appreciated. I'm concerned it's a big problem.

check the brakes completely first...disassemble rotor and caliper, clean and replace what is needed after proper lubrication of slides and all...torque to spec and see if it helps...

i had the same problem and it ended up being the wheel hub and bearing assembly. I replaced it myself and it was a fun job to do This is something that should be fixed as soon as possible because it can cause serious damge if not taken care of.

The parts are not cheap either from nissan. I got all of my parts for cheap beacuse my step dad works for nissan. But even with his discount and other parts needed to fix it. I spent $200.00 to get it back on the road. If i were to take it to a shop, they were going to charge me $160.00 just for the labor + parts.

Swafford,
Also, do I need any special tools? How could you tell it was bad?
and finally, did you have an intermittent sound or was it constant?
sorry about the barrage of questions, but it seems like this is an important fix.

Can you give us the procedure to replace the bearings and seals (materials, tools, steps)?

Thanks

Tom

Check the splash shield, it may be very close to the rotor and rub against it when the force from turning is applied to the wheel/hub assembly. You just reconditioned your calipers, you may have bent that dust shield just enough......

No. He wrote "$160 for labor + parts". $160 for the labor only. Parts would be extra.

One last question.
Does the job require that you get an alignment?

bearings and seals alone cost $130 from Jerry Rome....

doing the labor yourself saves time but does require bearing press kit or motorvate.ca trick be used

as well, the alignment os a must cause you remove the whole lower knuckle...so definetly get it done.
