Clutch pedal spring noise? Is that possible?

I got in my car for the first time in a about 12 days and before I even turned it on, I pushed the clutch in. It made a "rusty, old spring noise" (if that makes any sense). I started the car and it still made the noise everytime i pushed the clutch pedal in and released it. I did some stop and go driving before I got to the highway and it kept making the noise. Then I drove for about 20miles on the highway and pulled over to listen for the noise again because I couldn't hear it at highway speeds. It had disappeared! I checked the clutch fluid level and it was full, like always. Any ideas what this is? I don't even know if the clutch pedal has a spring, but I just assume it does.
Thanks.

Mine is doing the same thing as we speak. I was told to lube it up with vaseline or something like that, but I haven't had any time. But yes, on your clutch pedal assembly, there is a large spring on it.

Is the spring on the cabin side or engine side of the firewall? I'll give that a shot right now.
