What causes bouncy ride?

I have two cars. First is a 95 maxima se with a manual tranny. Other one is a 96 i30 with auto. Maxima has h&r with agx, fstb, and 17 inch wheels. I30 has the same except for stock 15 in wheels. Maxima has been lowered over a year ago and i30 a couple of months. The ride is totally different.

Now my problem is the i30 has the bouncy feeling even when the agx is set to 4/8. I don't think the they are blown because when I push down on all four corners, it is way stiff. I can set the maxima to 1/1 and have no bouncy ride. What can I do to get the i30 to ride like my maxima?

It's possible that you are feeling the flex from the higher profile tires on the I30. Try getting some 17"s for it, I bet you'll feel a big difference.

It's not how stiff it is, that's the springs that you're feeling. It's that you bounce it up and down (especially in the rear, open the trunk and grab onto the rim of the trunk) and create a rhythm with your suspension, then you stop, and watch to see how many more times it bounces before it comes to a stop. If it's more than 1, then you probably need new shocks. I've never really heard of anyone wearing out AGX so I'm not sure it's that. Then again, AGX are the cheapest shocks, and they always say "you get what you pay for"

It's got to be the tires. Swap the 17s from the Max onto the I30 and see what happens.

I'm going to be getting new rims soon for the max, so the i30 will get the old set. But I am really doubting its the rim/tire. That would mean every lowered max with stock wheels will have a sh1tty ride. I always thought that smaller wheels ride better than bigger wheels because of more tire sidewall. Any other suggestions out there?

When I said all 4 corners were stiff, I meant I can push the bumper down and it will bounce right back to the regular height. I'm thinking the agx are still good.

My cousin had a 200sx with cut front springs. With the stock wheels, 175/75/13
or something, it was bouncy. With 205/40/16 it was harsh as hell. I bet its the tires.
