O2 sensor problem of 97 Maxima GLE

I am a new comer for this forum. I met some troubles now.
1. I want to follow the instructions to get the error code.
But after getting the error code, I do not want to reset it?
How could I do? Because in the instructions, it only mentioned the way to quit and reset the error code?

2.you guys know that there are two O2 sensors before the cat. converter. If only one of them is misfunction, do I need replace both of them. Because I was told that,if I only replace the bad one, the new O2 sensor would sbe trong than the other one, which could cause problems. Is it correct?

Thanks very much

only replace the sensor that is bad. why replace one that is still good? you don't have to reset your ecu, but if you do and problem persists. error code will come back.

I am not sure if the MIL light will eventually go away by itself after you replace the O2 sensor. Why not just reset the ECU right away after changing the sensor? That way if the light comes right back, you know there is another problem (or the new sensor is no good or the cabling is bad).

Yes, if I install the new O2 sensor, I definitely will reset the ECU.
But I just want to get the error code by sefl diagnostic and not install the new O2 sensor,
How could I keep that error code in the ECU?

Pull the codes from the ECU and when you're done, DON'T reset it and it'll still stay there.

After you replace the sensor, reset the ECU and it'll go away
