Emblem Shaving

I understand how to do it. The problem is that i worry that my 96' Maxima GXE will leave a stain or the paint is burned in. I am worried that the MAXIMA will leave an imprint in my sterling mist paint. Should i worry about it?

I'd think that if it is a really old paint job (8 years) it may leave a mark behind that cannot be fixed.

just remove the emblems, remove the glue with some goo gone (worked well for me). then go over it with a buffer, there MAY still be slight color difference, but that should soon vanish, and worse case, you have to put the emblems back on...

Yeah, pretty much. My friends 96 had that happen, if you look at it with the right light hitting it a certain way, you can still make out MAXIMA, but you have to know what your really looking for. Thats why i just shaved the burger off, and left maxima...

If there is any trace of the letters, just go over it with some scratch removed and then a coat or two of wax. You'll never even know they were there.

I see you live in Glenview Check out the "Regional" forums

I'm about to do this on my white Max and I know it'll leave an imprint on it. It should go away after a while, if you wash and wax it normally.

I tried it a few weeks ago, but the fishing line broke Need to find a stronger fishing line...

Atleast take off the Nissan hamburger in the back! I'm taking off everything in the back since my emblems are gold and now they're dirty and gay looking. For me, it'll look better with it off

Just like ch13f said, the worst thing would be is that you would have to put them back...

ok now that i have removed it, i can see little remains of the m's and a's. Is there anyway to get rid of it? I cleaned the adhesive off so now what should i do. I can see these m's and a's outlines at certain angles.

Maybe the sun will eventually burn those colors in?!

Try using a clearcoat polishing compound to clean it up a bit. This made my rear look flawless and you can't tell any of the emblems were there on my 95 pbm max

you should be able to find this at any 'everything store' like walmart or kmart etc.. if not, you can find them at any auto part store

It'll go away after a few weeks when you wash it regularly. Clay bar it and do what kenji said.

How did you do it?

I took mine off just now to discover to my horror that the paint was peeling and chipping under my burger. How do I put it back on? When you buy them to they have the adhesive on them?

Go to an auto store like AutoZone or PepBoys and look for the emblem adhesive/glue. Just put some behind your emblems and stick it back on your car.
