Squealing Belts

Once in a while my belts squeal when I start the car. Do the belts need to be tightened or what? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes, or maybe replaced depending on their condition.

Thanks for the reply. They are actually brand new. I got them installed by jeff at maximum tuning when I had the lightened underdrive pulley installed. Are there any instructions out there on how to tighten the belts? thanks.

I've found that new belts break in, and expand a bit. Usually a few thousand miles after installing them, they need to be tightened.

Don't know where to find a write-up. I'm sure searching will yield something. Maybe pick up a Haynes manual.
