Corner/Signal light mod ?

I've recently rewired my corner lights from the 7w post onto the 27w post, and they run a bit brighter than I'd like during regular driving. I'd prefer these lights to run on the 7w filament for regular driving, but then have the brighter 27w filament light when the signal light on that side is activated. Am I correct in assuming that this is the way it was in earlier models? (I have a '97).
Now, given you understand my expertise with DC circuits isn't great, will the following idea work? Could you tap into the positive leads for each signal light at a point before they go into the flasher, and then run separate leads from there to the 27w post on each corner? Then, when a signal light was activated, these separate leads would supply a constant 12v to the desired 27w filament, and that corner would run a steady nice and bright 34w.(7w +27w). It would then go back to the a 7w when the signal light de-activated.
I guess in order to do this, I need to know where the signal light flasher is located (this, or course, assumes the Max even uses a flasher - probably integrated into the ECU circuitry or some other evil black box)!
Comments? Feedback? Ideas? 8^).....Flames! =8^(

the 27watt bulb shouldn't be used up there. it will get hot, hot, hot! i use a 21watt polarg super white there,. its looks pretty damn good plus if you have super white headlights it will look like a one piece unit.. it will not be as brite as your 27watt light you don't like.
