Need Advice About Buying

My freind is offering to sell me his 95 se for 4gs with 97k. It has power moonroof, autotrans, and a spoiler. He'll also register for me as a gift. Should I take his offer, or should I fork over about 1g more for a 97gle with 77k miles.
With the 95 i want to fully covert it to a 97-99 body after i get it. Which one would end up costing more in the end??

Just go with the 97. You will be more pleased, and be able to enjoy it for longer the way that you want to instead of having to wait to convert the 95. How a bad price either.

Get a 5 spd....
If you dont, you will want one later.. There are a LOT of org members who thought auto was for them and they end up spending 800-1500 bucks to convert later...
if you are convinced that an auto is really for you though go with the 97...GLE's have EVERYTHING, and the less milage is nice. But watch out you dont hurt your buddies feelings.....

Good advice. I concur. Get a 5 spd, because if you don't...you will want one. I too see so many people everyday that want one, and like 97blackse said, they have to then spend more money to convert it over. Mine is a 5spd, and I love it. In fact, that was one of the criteria for me buying one...had to be a 5spd and could not be Gold.
I think automatics are nice for some cars, but maximas are too sporty for that! Go for the Stick!

the 95 is a fair price, but the 97 seems like an even better price. I'd buy it. If the paint color is ok, and if condition is the same or better.

97 baby. there are significant differences w/the 97 and 95...one of which 97 has better safety rating.

also, those who have 95's that mod like to convert over to 97 sooner or later

I personally like the 97 a little better, just because of the cosmetic diffs. Mostly on the back, like the trunk lid, and the taillights.

the 97's are quieter as well, don't have the cam chain tensioner issue, and have a host of other unseen improvements. The GLE will feel a little softer than an SE too. After having both a 5speed and an auto, I love the auto....the 5speed just wasn't very inviting. if you are a speed freek, the 95 5speed is a rocket though...i spanked a few 5.0's with mine. Updating a 95 to a 97...thats more than just replacing the grill...and will quickly use up most of that $1000. besides, 20K less miles is worth $1500 in my book....i vote for teh 97 gle
