installing a tachometer

I have a 5" tach that i have mounted on my door all of the wires are ran and everything but i can not find the signal wire, for instance you would normaly install it to the negative on the coil but a 98 maxima has a distribuless ignition and i don't know where to conect it, i was thinking it would be the crankshaft sensor or maybe the camshaft, but i don't want to mess anything up so im asking for your help. Thanx in advance.

you need to tap into the wire that is already going to the tach you have on the dash. we all need a second tach on our door, so you can take your eyes off the road, and stare at the door.

Well, not to play the devil's advocate but I too have a tach but it doesn't work! I hate driving without one so I was glad to see this post because I am curious if and where other would put one. I don't wanna' look like a honda but at the same time for how I drive I need a tach. What costs more: and new auxilary tach or a new gauge cluster to fix the original tach?

everyone need to chillllll. I'm known to get on the flame bus too, but I'll give him thise one, my tach and coolant temp doesnt work So I been thinking about getting a non monster tach to put on my steering column a little offset. I dont find it ricey since no one could see it and its functional. But I have been goin on a bad tach for almost a year and never really needed one to drive, I just find myself going to the bar and having people drive my car home. Their not used to a dead tach. Wow what a boring story i have, Toodles.
