Wheel lock removal without the key

My stock key lock for my wheel locks has vanished!
Anybody have experience trying to remove the locks with out a key.

Just purchased new tires and can't have them installed.

I need some Maxima wisdom.

You could try vice grips, but i doubt that would work. The only other ways I could think of would be to e-mail the maker of the wheel lock, send a pic of the lock and ask if they have a key. Or the only other way would be to torch it off

That would suck to try to drill that out, because your would also need a wheel stud, which is about 2 or 3 times the amount of work because your have to completely remove the brakes. Not only that, lug nuts and studs are made from real hard metal. Good luck trying to drill that! Plus you also run the risk of ruining your wheel

You might be able to fit a socket over it thats too tight and try to hammer it on and try to twist it off....

What you need to do is buy a short 1/2 socket extension, take it to a welder and have him weld it to the locking nut. Then use a breaker bar to remove the lug nut. You will need one for each nut you need to remove. This may sound like a pain but it's allot better than breaking off the stud and having to replace that. Also recomend covering the surrounding area well with duct tape to prevent welding spatter from marking your rims.

We have tools in the body shop spicifically made to remove wheel lugs. Similar to a socket in design, but with sharp hardened steel teeth inside.

They take off anything!

Actually now that I think about it, try that "universal" socket. The one that has all those little rods, and you slip it over any bolt and some of the rods get pushed in. I think they call it gator grip or something

I had a buddy that used to boost rims in his younger years. He said put anti freeze on the lock wait a few minutes and it will come off. It wont ever go back on, but its off.

Yeah, my mom lost her key and simply went to the dealership who took it off as if it weren't even there. All I remember seeing was the normal impact wrench that the dude used. Wow, some of the ideas that people came up with on this thread....it's as if just to DIY they're gonna get out acetylene torches and do serious damage instead of taking it to a pro who takes it off in less than 60 seconds...again, the antifreeze suggestion, was that even serious or what? Or was it supposed to be funnY?
