Throttle Linkage: Cables and Connectors

Both I and my gf has the same Maxima, 97 except hers is SE with 16" wheels, and mine is a GXE (with 17" in the summer, and 15" in the winter).

However, I notice that her throttle is more responsive. You don't have to push the gas pedal too much to get the car going. With mine, I have to press deeper to get going.

Is there any way to tighten the cables/linkage...and how?

Yes, you can tighten the cables on the throttle body, easy and quick fix

Vlad,

Thank you for your reply. I see two cables at the TB, I assume one of them is for cruise control? How do I tighten the cable though?

And how about the gas pedal itself? Is there an adjustment screw? Seems to me that my gf's Maxima is much tighter in that department.

not sure about gas pedal, never looked in there..

To tighten the cables (yes, one is cruise control), look at the metal plate on TB. You will see two nuts. Untighten the one closer to driver side fender and keep tightening the one cloder to passenger side fender (sorry I have no pics). check the cable for pressure in order to not overtighten them. After you done with tightening the cable, retighten the on ecloser to driver side fender.
