The reason there is a limiter is to keep lead foots like you from causing any huge accidents.

You haven't "pegged" your speedo....you just reached the speed limiter on GXEs probably , you won't peg your speedo unless you go like 150mph

i think i did, as i'm rather sure that the '95's don't have a speed limiter , and i'm pretty sure the speedo only goes to 140 and i passed that

Wow, where did you go that you reached that speed? I hope it wasn't on the highway with other drivers.....lol, I would never go that fast because im paranoid that i get a flat tire at those speeds, and your in for a fun ride. Hey, sorry that i didnt help about the cruise control thing. Think of my posts as a free bump

For some reason, I just have a hard time believing the validity of this post.

actually the highways in AZ are rather abandoned at 3am. i've been going round 100 and been passed as if i was standing still! now thats fast!
and i did go over 140, if only for 30 seconds or so, at those speeds you cover a lot of distance and run out of highway pretty quick...
just floor it! i didn't realize it was an issue for you guys.
i was just thinking that my speedo may have been off a little bcause i have 17's with low profile rubber... but it shouldn't have matterd that much... right?

1. Correct, there is a speed limiter for cruise control, and it is 90 MPH for all 4th gens. Although, i coulda sworn i set cruise at 105 before.....
2.

correct, we want to go above 115, but there is no need to cruise at over 115, or even over 90. Think about it this way: If you cruised at 90+MPH for any extended amount of time, you'd be using so much gas ( i don't know about you people, but at 80, my tach is at just under 3k rpms) that it wouldn't be worth it.

3.

This has come up before. There always seems to be someone *cough*NEWBIE*cough* that claims that they went more than 140 in a 4th gen or 160 in a 5th gen. If i remeber correctly, this is a physical impossibility, unless:
A: You're boosted.
or
B: You happened to be doing 140+ on a hill that had a 45 degree or greater downgrade.

The way i remeber it being is that a stock max doesen't have enough torque in the higher RPMS to get this kind of speed, So either you're boosted, or gravity was on your side.

4. i can't speak on whether you have a rev limiter or not, the way i understood it was that all 4th gen GXEs had rev limiters, if yours does not, congratulations.

you guys are seriusly obsessed with dissing newbies. as i said my speedo may have been off becuase of different wheels/tires but not by a whole lot
i browsed this forum for a while before signing up and saw how much newbies get picked on, but seriously come on!
and thanks for being completely useless in answering my question.
this does not apply to all who responded to the thread, just those select few who think they know it all because they've posted in the 1000's. get a life!

i dont pick on newbies for that specific reason (but you talking all that crap about newbie pride makes me want to smack you) but you havent pegged it. Show us some pics of your car or something and stop whining to me. Your stupid question already was answered...no you cant set your cruise control at 115, and there is no mod for it. why would you do something that dumb anyway?
