How do you stop break squeaking?

My breaks have been squeaking when I come to a slow and sometimes fast stop. It is driving me nuts! Is there a way to stop this?

Replace them (**nothing less then ceramic**), lube up the floating pins or whatever they are called, and check the rotors

from wht i hear non oem will always squeak. i have brembo cross drilled rotors and aftermarket pads. squeakes are always present but i have many other issues to fix b4 that. but def go with oem.. brake dust may be a common thing but at least when u roll up people wont run away...

blake

raybestos quietstops dont squeek.. ive had them for about 5 months now.. never had one squeek. about 40 bucks form kragen.. they are ceramic. dont double up the shims like my stupid butt did. ur initial bite response time goes down if you do that. jsut use th stock shims or the shims that come with the new brakes.

only other option is factory brakes. but those are pricey i think from dealer.

Disc brake squeaking noise isn't always from the pad touching the rotor, but sometimes the pad vibrating in the caliper. I've always made sure that some sort of quiet stop additive was used on my pads when being replaced:

yeah, when you get pads installed make sure you use some anti-squeal adhesive on the backside of the pads. Should keep them stuck to the caliper and minimize on the rattling that causes squeaking.

Had some non-oem pads and rotors for 1+ year and have no squeaking on my max.

Yeah you got to use the anti-squeel thing inbetween the pad and metal plate to keep them from squeeling. Make sure you check the rotors. The job with replacing all the rotors and all the brake pads and hardware took me five hours with all the going to autozone and taking breakes. If you don't have to replace your rotors it will take you like 3 hours. The hard part is the rear calipers. It took me good half an hour to figure out how to properly get them back in.
