First, check the switch. Make sure the switch is either on the ON or DOOR position. Then check both sides of the lamp socket using a light tester. Check to see if you are getting 12 volts from any of it. If so, its the bulb. If not, it could be your fuse. But you already mentioned that the fuse is good so it could be the lamp socket terminals or wiring from the fuse to the lamp socket.

My lights mysteriously shorted out once too. It turned out to be a fuse that I didnt think would have anything to do w/ lights. I cant remeber if it was in the cabin or under the hood though. Just spend 30minutes and check every single fuse....

dammit..what is the part exactly that needs to be replaced..my locks and windows still work fine but its just the courtesy light that doesnt work. Is my only option to head to the dealership and have them replace it?

I think he's referring to the pin switch that the door hits when it closes, it breaks or makes the circuit to turn the courtesy light on or off. I'm not sure if that switch is dealer specific but it just might be. If you are somewhat electronically inclined, you can test that pin switch. If not, perhaps you need to enlist the help of an automotive electrical shop.
