Do it yourself. It's really easy. (All you have to do is jack up the car and remove three screws and one bolt at the bottom of the shock. Rent a spring compressor at auto zone for a $40 deposit (you'll get it back once your turn them back in). Compress springs. Put the new springs and shocks together and then put them back on the car.)x4
And you really don't have to compress the rear springs because they are not under very much pressure.

Or just get a Hayans(? hope I spelled that right) manuel and follow directions. It's really not as hard as you think. Any noobie can do it...

The shop that I was going to go to, wanted to charge me $192 just for one end, and then another $192 for the other. So $400 for the install, but I'm gonna have my friend do it. Much cheaper, plus you get the experience and knowledge of the components in you suspension.

$150 is a reasonable figure. It's $35 an hour * 4 hours + tax.

Zipp don't make the mistake of going to a shop to do it. I had a 300zx that had KYBAGX and eibach installed on them. The mechanic that did it charged me about 441 for the whole operation. Do what Geeshack said, get somebody else to do it because knowledge is power.

THANKS JaTaN for the help on Haynes.

Its really easy. I've never done any suspension work before, and it only took a friend and I 3 hours. I would tell anyone to do it themselves. you'll get the pride of doing something that makes your car look so good.

You can do it yourself...but just make sure you have a manual to give you diagrams and the torque specifications when you put stuff back on. Make sure you have good tools, including a torque wrench. The haynes manual has a good DIY section on this.

Autohaus. My homie took me there over a year ago. He knows somebody there, but I don't know if it was a hookup or there normal charge. I'll find out more when I get off work.

I have done it before on a pickup truck, replaced the stock struts with coilovers. Of course it didn't require taking the strut and coil springs apart. But the steps are basically the same except for when you change the coil springs on yours, you'd need a spring compressing tool. And the step to compress the spring can be tricky and frustrating if you don't have the proper tool. You can also pull out all the struts (mark each one so you don't get them mixed up when you put them back on) and then take them to a shop who can compress the springs and replace it with your new lowering springs. Then take them back home, install all of them and your done. Don't forget to get a front end alignment since removing the bolts that secure the strut to the spindle throws off your alignment.

i don't know if drinking large quantities of beer and wrenching on your car is the best way... but i do know that it's the funnest way. yup... just grab a buddy who's done it before and the process should go by smoothly... just takes a little time.
