help me decide: 95 max is 9 years old with 100k, continue modding or not?

although my max has 98k on it, but i have in my VQ it'll last till 200k with proper maintance. now here's the problem: i don't drive my max hard, don't race too often, just a nice and fast ride from places to places. as you can see my major mods in my sig, should i continue to drop more $$ into modding or i should stop, start saving up $$ for the next ride? (g35c black/black 6spd )

it has been 1.5 years since i started modding my max, i learned a lot and appreciated every minute and effort i spent. i felt it's the right time to stop and just keep it the way it is. no i'm not gonna drop my car cuz i want to keep my ride comfert, no i'm not gonna get a b-pipe to get that extra 4-5 FWHP. why? i don't feel like it's worth it.

so this mite be it. my last mod is brembo cross/drilled rotors (both F and R). it's coming in the mail and it'll be my last modification...hopefully. and i will keep you guys posted when i'm done.

what do you guys think?

I think it's totally about what you want. Unless they're classics or you're making money with it, cars are a bad investment financially (cars are so expensive!). It's the hobby factor that makes it worth putting anything more into it than to make it a daily driver. It sounds like you've done what you wanted to the Max, and you're ready to move on, in which case it'll provide you with everything Max's promise until you've saved up for that G35. Sounds like you're ready to wait and save up, from what you said.

it all depends on whether you want that car payment or not. now if you save up a nice bit of loot and get a nice down payment then i would say go for it. G35 is a badass car and I hope to own one someday as well.

It depends on what you want to do. What are you currently thinking? Upgrading your suspension would be a nice change to the car, but anything more expensive might not be worth it.

do what you enjoy ! if your keeping the car a long time then do a bit more, but we know how expensive it is to buy the mods and such. the max is a real good car and very worthy.

after hitting 100k miles, i replaced:

2 new o2 sensors
new ect sensor
new y pipe and muffler (oh well, got full exhaust)
new spark plugs
2 new fuel injectors
front/rear rotors and pads

and i need to replace:
left axle

after i fix the axle, my car should will be great. those repairs are unavoidable in most cars IMO.

not everything went bad all at once, but gradually over a year. on a teenagers budget, it took awhile to afford the parts..but now i know my car will be good for time to come.

I say you should start saving up for that G35! Your car has plenty of mods on it anyways!

You want my opinion? Then i don't think you should even be thinking about stopping. Max's are reliable cars that will last you probably 100k more, if well maintained. So keep going man~! Don't quit in the middle. At least finish it with a small drop like Maxspeeds or H&R's and get some Illuminas. Pretty sure that it'd be softer than u think. And also, getting Subframe Connectors help with ride quality too, so I've heard. Well I believe it cuz after I installed my RSB, the ride got a tiny bit, but noticably smoother. And in plus, you get great handing. 98k? man that's like what I got my car with. haha, and you're thinking about stopping while i was thinking about what to start with. LOL! well, Good Luck with the decision that you make~!

I would say keep the car. I love your car, and I love the mods you've put into it. Keep it, it's a reliable car.

Now that my Maxima needs me to replace the diff bearings and possibly rebuild the transaxle, I decided to spend my very little money on my Z. If you are addicted to modding cars, instead of buying a G35, why not buy an older Nissan. After investing in a 1500 dollar rust free Z, you will have all the money in the world to mod it. Besides, there isn't a sane person on earth that can tell me that a max is more fun to drive then a Z (times that by 10 in rain or snow). I’d have a G35 next to my Z but not for the price. Just my $.02

It sounds like happyricefob has separation anxiety disorder with the maxima. By the way you are talking, it's high time to start saving for that sweeeeeeet g35. When you have enough money for the car, take all the mods off the max and sell. More money for the g35 mods.

im with peter the eater, i just got my car a month ago, wit 111k on her. and i plan on having her for about 6 years (thru college and for awhile afterwards0 and the only mod i have so far are headlights and alpine type s speakers all round, and i have yet to begin! unfortunatly, im on a limited highschooler budget, and the mods will come slowly but surely for the next 3 years or so.
