bad motor mounts?

Since I can't do a search, how does one know if their motor mounts are going bad?

You'll feel the engine rolling too much and it will move the car with it.
Set your parking brake and place load on the engine while in gear. As you move into gear (auto or manual, though for manual, you'll have to modulate the clutch) and out of gear, you'll be able to sense whether there is too much play. Then check the other half of a possible problem by creating load in reverse.

Visually, you can inspect the motor mounts by looking for tears, brittleness, flaking, etc. If you want to know where they are, read through the FAQs, buy a Haynes manual or FSM and get a little dirty working on your car.

I did the shore 80-a (or however that works) homemade poly-filled mounts per Eric's instructions. I think they're absolutely incredible and should be what Nissan provides from the factory. I have absolutely no complaints about vibration or noise.

Cheers,

Joaquin
