Underdrive Pulley

What exactly does this do? People are telling me to get one, and theyre only 189 on custommaxim.com, so i was thinking if theyre cheap and give good gains, i might look into it. But i wanna know what it does first haha.

Doesn't it say what it does on the web site?

It makes the engine have an easier load = It makes you car faster. I want to get one of these in another month or 2.

Tough install compared to other mods though.

That $189 would be better spent on a Y-pipe if you dont already have one.

I agree, I say to get intake / y-pipe / catback / suspension in the beginning stage which i'm actually still in.

I'd say that step 2 has things like body kits / CF hood / pulley

Directly from custommaxima.com
Power Gains

Unorthodox Racing pulleys can provide gains of 5 to 12 HP and 4 to 8 ft.-lbs. on normally aspirated engines and 8 to 16 HP and 18 ft.-lbs. on forced induction engines. These are average gains. Gains as high as 37 HP and 45 ft.-lbs. have been realized on modified forced induction engines. These gains are obtained in two ways.
First, and most important, is the weight lose. An average of 2.7 HP is gained from every pound lost off the crank shaft. 85% of the gains are from weight loss. The rest of the gains are from underdriving which accounts for about 15% of the total gains.

I think a person should know, and understand how their mods work.

I'd prbly wait for a GD. However, guys you gotta understand that it does increase power. Sometimes you buy little things such as this or a straight pipe.. in which it will give you the advantage of everyone else on the .org... (Supposing that your race)

mzmtg, I have stripped the tensioner adjustement bolt. So it took so long because I had to find a replacement. If I did it again I'm sure I could do pulley and belt in 2 hours.
